NAIROBI– Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Kipchumba Murkomen on Monday met with lawmakers drawn from Wajir county in the midst of impassable roads in the county caused by the floods.
They discussed various primarily gathering support from the leaders in overseeing road projects in their region to ensure value for money.The
Murkomen in a statement said he will continue engaging with the leaders on impending road projects that the Kenya Kwanza Government implementing in the region.
As I assured the National Assembly last week, I will continue consulting elected leaders on road projects in their regions because together we will find solutions.

He assured the legislators that the government is committed to addressing the road menace in region that has been rendered impassable by the El-Nino weather Phenomenon that wreaked havoc across the country.
The meeting which was graced by Roads PS Eng Joseph Mbugua and heads of the various Roads agencies comes at a critical moment as roads continue to remain marooned by water caused by the ongoing floods leading to business people counting after vehicles were stuck in the roads for weeks.

Northern Kenya has been experiencing poor road network and infrastructure since time immemorial.
Promises by successive government to fix the road linking Nairobi to North Eastern has been elusive and the roads continue to remain unattended to posing a great disadvantage to the residents.
