Newly appointed Health Cabinet Secretary, Aden Duale, attended an Iftar dinner hosted by Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) in Nairobi on Tuesday evening. The event, organized by the Inter-Faith Religious Council of Kenya (IRCK), brought together prominent figures from various faith communities, emphasizing the importance of unity, mutual respect, and collaboration among different religious groups.

The Iftar dinner, which coincides with the ongoing holy month of Ramadan, underscored the significance of fostering interfaith dialogue and collaboration in Kenya’s diverse society.

The Inter-Faith Religious Council of Kenya, a coalition comprising major faith communities, including Muslims, Christians, Hindus, and Sikhs, served as the perfect platform for leaders from different backgrounds to share a meal and discuss critical social issues.

In his remarks at the event, Duale shared his vision for the Ministry of Health, emphasizing the central role of health in the nation’s prosperity. “The prosperity of a nation depends on the health of its people,” he said. Expressing his gratitude to H.E. President William Samoei Ruto for appointing him to lead the ministry, Duale highlighted the honor of his previous tenure at the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change & Forestry, where he contributed to advancing key environmental and climate action policies.

As Health Cabinet Secretary, Duale reaffirmed his commitment to working with stakeholders to strengthen healthcare delivery in Kenya. A major focus will be advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to ensure that every Kenyan, particularly vulnerable populations, has access to affordable and quality healthcare.

“Health is central to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), and I look forward to fostering interministerial collaboration to enhance service delivery and improve lives across the nation,” he stated.

The Iftar dinner also reinforced the message of unity and peace, emphasizing the shared values among different religious communities. As Kenya continues to navigate the challenges of building an inclusive society, the event served as a reminder of the potential for interfaith collaboration in addressing these issues and working toward a more harmonious future.

The gathering highlighted the importance of cooperation between government bodies, religious organizations, and the private sector to promote peace, understanding, and development, with a strong focus on improving health outcomes for all Kenyans.
