NAIROBI– The Ministry is keen on leveraging both multilateral and bilateral partnerships with the private sector to achieve Kenya’s climate action anchored in the 15bn Tree Growing flagship project.

Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale today unveiled the 14.2-Kilometer fence of Ngong Road Forest-Sanctuary Block in Nairobi City County.

The Ksh 160M phase 1 project,supported by I&M Bank Foundation in partnership with Kenya Forest Service(KFS) seeks to accelerate Kenya’s ambitous 15bn Tree Growing project by 2032.

Dubbed “Imarisha Ngong Road Forest”,the project will be implemented in three phases to enhance livelihoods by construction of  5 modern access gates,7 ranger houses ,event grounds,ablution blocks,boreholes, tree nurseries and procuring of motorcycles.

The project will enhance ecosystem restoration, boost security within the surrounding communities and create employment aligning with government’s transformative agenda.

CS Duale, who was accompanied by Forestry Development Secretary Mr. George Tarus reiterated good governance and integrity in the forestry sector, emphasizing the need for public participation on the issuance  of special user licences.

Several dignitaries attended the launch, including I&M Directors Mr. Gul Khan(Bank) and Mr. Sarit Raja-Shah(Foundation) ,Chief Conservator of Forests Mr. Alex Lemarkoko and Forest Development Secretary Mr. George Tarus.
