NAIROBI– Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale on Wednesday hosted bilateral talks with the Egyptian Ambassador to Kenya, Wael Nasreldin Attiya, in a strategic follow-up to President William Ruto’s recent State Visit to Egypt.

The meeting aimed to solidify and expand partnerships between the two nations in the health sector.

Central to the discussions were three key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) that will guide future cooperation.

These include agreements on Health and Medical Services, collaboration between Kenyatta National Hospital and Egypt’s National Cancer Institute for Oncology, and regulatory alignment between the Egyptian Drug Authority and Kenya’s Pharmacy and Poisons Board.

These MoUs are set to facilitate institutional linkages, technical collaboration, and vital knowledge sharing.

The engagement also highlighted Egypt’s Nile Development Fund, through which Kenya was invited to propose three priority development projects for potential funding of up to USD 6 million.

This opportunity aims to support regional development within Nile Basin countries.

CS Duale reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to enhancing local manufacturing of Health Products and Technologies, calling on Egyptian firms to invest in this space.

He further welcomed Egypt’s technical support in areas such as infection prevention in healthcare settings, public health research, and emergency response to disease outbreaks.

Ambassador Attiya extended an official invitation for Kenya to participate in the Africa Health Expo in June 2025 in Egypt, positioning it as a platform for deepened engagement and innovation in African health systems.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, and Director General for Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth.
