MOGADISHU– Kenya’s Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has on Wednesday held meeting with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud at Villa Somalia.
They discussed range of topics including strengthening cooperations between the two countries in the areas of security and expediting the war against Al-Shabaab.
President Mohamud briefed the Defence Minister on the progress made by the Somali government in eradicating Al-Shabab and the challenges that the military is grappling with in combatting with extremism.

On his part, CS Duale assured the Kenyan government unwavering commitment to regional stability and strengthening the war against Al-Shabaab, militant group who have been posing a threat to the Somali government for decades.
The CS applauded the Somali government onslaught against Al-Shabaab which he said has gained momentum and is good for the region.
On the sidelines the CS held meeting with Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
They engaged discussions centred on ways of bolstering bilateral relations between the two countries with special focus on security cooperation in the war against terrorism.
They also explored ways to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation through regional economic integration.
The CS who is on an official working visit to Mogadishu also met with his Somali counterpart Abdullahi Mohamed Nur and deliberated widely on issues of mutual interest and cooperation in the areas of security, defence and counter-terrorism.

Kenya is among the countries contributing troops to the African Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
Kenya Defence Forces maintain bases across the Horn of Africa Nation especially in Jubbaland regional State.
