MOGADISHU– The Director General of the Somali National Bureau of Statistics ( SNBS) Sharmake Farah on Wednesday held meeting with United Nations Development Programme ( UNDP) resident representative Lionel Lauren.

They discussed partnership towards developing Somalia’s 2nd VNR Report, Human Development Index (HDI) Report.

The enhancement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) data and sustainable statistical systems also featured prominently in the discussion.

The DG expressed gratitude at the meeting pinpointing that the deliberations were both enlightening and far-reaching and broadly delved into the various critical domains that are central to Somalia’s development journey.

He also highlighted that they engaged on exploring future cooperations that are critical and pivotal for the development agenda of Somalia.

Sharmake further delineated the unflinching support that the UNDP in Somalia has lent to the agency that were instrumental in the development of the amended Statistics Act that laid the foundation for the establishment of the agency.

Lauren on his part pledged bolstering cooperation between the UNDP in Somalia and the agency in the arena of data collection and other critical domains and programs under the purview of the SNBS.
