“National Security Advisor to President Farmajo Fahad Yassin has today taken over his duties following a recent appointment.Fahad thanked president Farmajo for the role while promising to serve the Nation with continued dedication and patriotism to enhance security.”
Fahad took over from Abdisaid Muse Ali who was appointed by President Farmajo as the chief of staff.
Yassin was fired by prime minister Mohamed Hussein Roble after the controversial disappearance and subsequent death of female spy agent Ikran Tahlil Farah whose case has caused outrage and sparked off a feud between President Farmajo and Prime Minister Roble over the handling of the case.
President Mohamed Farmajo named a commission to launch an investigation into the circumstances under which Ikran was killed however PM Roble castigated the appointment and accused president Farmajo of obstruction of justice for the slain intelligence officer.
Villa Somalia did not share footage of the Taking over ceremony with the media.
This barely comes a week after the ex-intelligence chief Fahad Yassin was denied entry into the country and detained for several hours in Djibouti before the Turkish Airlines plane was ordered to go back to Istanbul, Turkey, and embark on another flight exclusive of Fahad.
Fahad arrived in Mogadishu on Tuesday aboard a private plane and proceeded to Somalia’s presidential palace.
Somalia President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble have been feuding over several issues key being the case of Ikran Tahlil. Efforts to bring the two top leaders to a consensus have hit a snag latest being the meeting spearheaded by Galmudug president Ahmed Abdi Qoorqoor flopping at the umpteenth time. Some quarters accused president Farmajo of brinkmanship and being a stumbling block to reaching an agreement between him and PM Roble.
However, Villa Somalia yesterday came out guns blazing rebuking claims that president Farmajo refused to concede on key issues in a bid to resolve the standoff between the president and the prime minister.
The international community has been calling for the immediate reconciliation of both the leaders and refrain unhelpful public statements and personal announcements that further escalate the situation and hamper the ongoing protracted elections and fight against Al-Shabaab insurgency.
