Two families in Garissa are demanding justice following disappearances of their loved ones in separate incidents, calling for their immediate release.

Speaking to Frontier Online Ebla Mogow, the wife of Abdirahman Omar also known as Rahiye who was allegedly abducted while on his way to Garissa on 10th May spoke of anguish and pain since his disappearance.

She said after visiting and recording statements with several police stations along Garissa-Nairobi highway nothing has been forthcoming noting that she is now helpless and hopes that her husband will come back home safe.

“I have recorded statements with Bangali, Ukasi, Nguuni and Mwingi police stations where I requested them to help me find my husband but up to today, I have not gotten any concrete response,” she said.

The mother of four recalled that her husband call her that morning before he left Nairobi where he told her that he is coming to Garissa aboard a friend’s vehicle that she also apparently knew, she however was shocked to find the same vehicle on social media abandoned by the roadside.

“When I saw the picture of the vehicle going round on social media I knew that something was wrong and when I tried to call my husband’s phone it was not going through, I was later informed that he was abducted,” she tearfully narrated.

Ebla said a similar abduction on 14th April while with his children at Garissa’s livestock market his vehicle was hit and then unidentified gunmen abducted him with his vehicle someone taking charge where they later abandon the vehicle and the children, later in the evening he was released after he was informed that it was a case of mistaken identity.

“I don’t know why he should be abducted, he was only working for his children, if he has done any wrongdoing let him be taken to court, am appealing to President William Ruto to intervene and have my husband back home,” she said.

In Garissa Town, the family of Abdinasir Khalif took to the streets demanding his release after his abduction and subsequent disappearance in 2023.

Sangabo Guthey, his mother was amongst hundreds who took to the streets demanding the release of her son whom she said his disappearance has taken a toll on her wellbeing.

She said she had high hopes over her first born son who recently finished high school and started working as a driver where he was abducted and never to be seen again.

“We went to all military installations where we were told he was being held but it was just a mere promise that he will be released, am asking all leaders to help me find my son,” she noted.

She claimed that the security officials who abducted her continued holding the son’s vehicle that he was using to ferry passengers.
