Guriceel– Fighting pitting between Somalia government security forces and Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a continues to rage on for the third day consecutive in the besieged Guriel town.
According to journalists and local residents the fighting has mainly intensified in the eastern part of the town with both sides using heavy weaponry and artilleries in the fight.
Somalia government forces have on Sunday claimed victory in the fight saying most of the parts of the city are under their control had mounted multiple security checkpoints.
This even comes as demonstrations today took place in the Moqadishu as protestors mainly being Children and mother’s protested against the battle that is on going in Guriceel.
The protestors who were demonstrating at the Tarabunka junction called on both sides to come to for immediate ceasefire saying that a large scale of humanitarian crisis is looming in the town as thousands of residents vacated their homes in fear of being caught in the gun fires.
Sources close to the battle understand that 30 people have been killed in the offensive that started on Saturday morning and scores of others However, no one knows the actual number of casualties in the fight as government remained about the enraging fight.
Local residents told media in Guriel that a child was also killed today in the offensive.Other reports state that most of the health facilities in the area have come under attack with their infrastructure destroyed.
The Somali government has since Sunday been airlifting the government soldiers who have been wounded in the fight.

Somalia Government forces backed by their Galmudug counterpart had on Saturday the town of Guriel which has been under the control of the moderate Islamic jihadist Ahlu Sunna Wal Jamacah for weeks.
