Food and Agriculture Organization ( FAO) has provided training to 21 Training of Trainees ( TOTS) from the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries (MoLFD) under SIRA II project in Borama, Somaliland.
The trainees are expected to impart their training to 10,000 agropastoralists in Baki, Borama and Gebiley.
The Embassy of Switzerland in Nairobi facilitated and funded the project which focuses on sustainability, empowering extension officers for better fodder production, value addition and marketing.

Somalia Information and Resilience Building Action (SIRA) project, is aimed at strengthening the fodder value-chain by improving fodder production, value-addition and marketing among 7 500 agropastoral households in Baki and Borama districts in Somaliland.
The project tailored on contributing to building resilience in this agropastoral communities through investment in efficient fodder production and fodder market systems to enable producers (local communities) to absorb and adapt to climatic shocks and stresses such as drought.
