Somalia’s Galmudug State President Ahmed Abdi Kariye “Qoor-Qoor” has on Wednesday received at his office in the regional capital Dhusamareb, the outgoing EU ambassador Tiina Intelmann.
They deliberated on range of issues including strengthening collaboration between the EU and Galmudug State.
The discussions also covered Galmudug’s progress in local democracy and the preparations for one-person-one-vote district elections set to be held in the region in the coming months.
During the meeting, Mr. QoorQoor also bade farewell to Intelman as she winds up her two-year term as head of the EU mission in Somalia domiciled in the capital Mogadishu.
He lauded the Envoy for bolstering cooperation between the two sides in different facets including implementation of development projects in the State.
Ms. Intelman on her side thanked QoorQoor for the support she was accorded during her tenure reiterating the EU’s commitment to further supporting Somalia and Galmudug State in particular.
The European Union has been involved in undertaking development and community projects which have had a remarkable facelift in the region groaning under vagaries of climate change and adverse effects of drought and conflict.
