Somali Deputy Speaker of the Federal Parliament, Abdullahi Omar Abshir has on Wednesday held meeting in the capital Mogadishu with the Special Presidential Envoy for Migration, Returnees and Children’s Rights Maryan Yassin.
They discussed a wide range of issues including the important role of the Parliament in Migration Management and exploration of ways to enhance their collaboration on this matter.
Abshir briefed the Envoy on the work of the legislature in initiating and enacting legislative acts in support of the migration and returnees highlighting the parliament’s commitment to advancing the interest of returnees and migrants in the country.

On her part, Ms Yassin thanked the Deputy Speaker of the Lower House for the meeting reiterating the pivotal role of parliament in migration governance emphasizing the need for collaboration between the two entities.
The special Envoy has in recent been meeting top Somali government officials particularly Cabinet Ministers in a bid to advocate for the well-being of the Somali.
