The Special Presidential Envoy for Migration, Returns and Children’s Rights, Mariam Yassin has on Thursday held meeting with Dr. Mamunur Rahman Malik, the country representative for the World Health Organization in Somalia.
The meeting in the capital Mogadishu discussed about mental health challenges faced by Somali returnees displaced by the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
Ms. Yassin expressed gratitude to Dr. Malik for the WHO support in the facilitating the return of Somali citizens who were caught up in the crossfire between the military and Paramilitary unit in Sudan.
As part of Somalia's commitment to #SDG3, we are aware that health is a crucial aspect of Migration Management and we need to ensure migrants’ access to health services.

On his part, Dr. Mamunur highlighted the importance of closer cooperation between the Somali Federal government and WHO in rendering support to the returnees so as that they uplift their lives.

He further underscored the WHO unwavering commitment to continue supporting Somali returnees saying that migrant’s health is one of our key areas globally and the SDG3 cannot be achieved without including migrants.
Meanwhile, the UN agency for Global Health says it is ready to work with other the International Organization for Migration ( IOM) , UNHCR and Somali Ministry of Health in a bid to ensure that all returnees have access to health care.
