A planned meeting of leaders from the Federal Member States of Somalia convened in Garowe Putland to deliberate on the current status of Somalia and make a follow up on the implementation of the electoral process has been put off after a section of the regional State Presidents asked for the inclusion of the Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.
Sources privy to the meeting intimated that Galmudug president Mohamed Qorqor requested for the re- scheduling of the meeting to bring on board Prime Minister Mohamed Roble.
The Federal Member States leaders had called for the meeting last week in a joint press statement posted on their Twitter handle which did not mention the inclusion of the PM to the talks raising eyebrows among different quarters over the formation of the National Consultative Council.
The NCC which comprises of the Prime Minister and Federal Member States leaders have been holding their meetings in person and online via video conference to oversee the much protracted and disputed elections.
It was not immediately clear when the meeting would be held.
However, a squabble between the President Mohamed Farmajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Roble is reported to have scuttled and derailed the council as three of the regional Member States Presidents; Galmudug head Mohamed Qorqor his South West counterpart Abdiaziz Lafta Garren and Hirshabelle president Ali Gudlawe are said to be close confidants of president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
The Spat between president Mohamed Farmajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Roble began when Farmajo issued a presidential decree ordering state government from not signing any deals with other government until elections are held in the country hours before PM Roble visited Kenya and met with President Uhuru Kenyatta in Mombasa Kenya to discuss about issues affecting both countries.
The political feuds were also compounded when the news emerged of the disappearance and abduction of a female Intelligence officer Ikran Tahlil Farah and Prime Minister Mohamed Roble subsequently sacking the former National Intelligence And Security Agency (NISA) boss Fahad Yassin who is a close ally of Villa Somalia and the president reinstating him and urging him to continue with his work before Fahad decided to resign from his job and Farmajo appointing him as the National Security Advisor for the president.
The international community has been demanding the two top leaders of Somalia to resolve their differences and give consideration to the ongoing elections and the fight against Al- Shabaab insurgency.
In a meeting at the UN security council, the British government pushed for the immediate reconciliation of the president Farmajo and Prime Minister Roble warning that the continuation of their feuds and unhelpful exchange of public statements and personal announces could hamper both the ongoing elections and the fragile security situation in the country.
