KISMAYU– Somalia s Jubbaland State President Ahmed Mohamed Islam alias Ahmed Madobe has on Thursday held meeting with a high level US delegation led by Chargé d’Affaires Tim Trenkle.
The meeting between the two officials took place at the region’s administrative capital of Kismayo.
They discussed pertinent issues including bolstering of operations against the Al-qaeda affiliate group – Al-Shabab in the region in a bid to wrestle from them areas under their control.
Stabilization of areas recently liberated from the Shabab militants and how to disburse and avail essential services to the people in living in those areas also prominently featured in the discussions.
They also tackled ways of finding feasible solutions to the natural disasters and how to provide assistance to the people affected by drought.
The US Embassy in Somalia in a Statement posted on its Twitter handle said the meeting centred on partnership on security, stabilization and humanitarian assistance, as well as importance of reconciliation and elections.

In a statement released to the public Somalia’s disaster management agency on Tuesday warned of possible flooding of Shabelle and Jubba rivers. The water levels in the rivers have steadily risen in the recent days owing to the ongoing heavy rains pounding the area.

The Jubbaland State President and US Deputy Ambassador also discussed finding a sustainable solution to natural disasters and how to help people recover from the effects of the disasters.
Among those on attendance of the meeting were; Ministers of Planning, Security, Internal Affairs.
