WAJIR– Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officers on patrol on Friday rescued a pregnant woman who had been in labor for hours in Gherille South of Wajir County.
According to a statement by KDF, the soldiers were conducting an operation near Gherille when they encountered the woman in distress.
In their statement, KDF noted that as part of their standard procedure, the officers assisted the mother and her newborn baby to a nearby medical facility to receive proper care.
“KDF troops under Close Operations from Gherille encountered a pregnant woman in labor during their patrol in the area. The patrol medics successfully facilitated a safe delivery, welcoming a healthy baby boy into the world.

“The mother, identified as Salma Osman, joyfully received her newborn son. Both mother and baby were then transported to Gherille Health Facility for postnatal care and vaccinations,” the statement highlighted.
In addition to their assistance, KDF also provided food supplies to celebrate the arrival of the newborn.
