Lagdera Member of Parliament Mohamed Abdikadir has on Saturday launched the distribution of bursaries worth Ksh. 76 million to needy students across the constituency.
Abdikadir said the bursaries will benefit 12,682 targeted students in secondary schools, colleges, technical and training institutes and universities.
He was speaking at Afweine Primary School Grounds where he officially launched the distribution of bursary cheques to beneficiaries across the constituency.
The MP had also yesterday handed over a cheque to Garissa Teachers Training College to cater for full fees for 60 students from the constituency currently studying at the institution.
“We are in full support of the government’s initiative to achieve 100% transition in an effort to enhance access and retention of students at school,” he said.
“Those parents who are still keeping students at home because of fees problems should return them to school immediately as I appeal to principals to ensure no learner in Lagdera is sent home for fees,” he added.
