EASTLEIGH, NAIROBI- One person has been killed and three others wounded following an explosion of a gas that occurred at Ibgaro House near Madina Mall in Eastleigh, Nairobi on Monday.
Confirming the incident to the Media, Eastleigh OCPD Francis Kamau said the explosion was as result of leaking gas in the building which exploded after a person tried to alight the gas.
” I am here to confirm that the explosion that was heard was as result of a leaking gas which exploded after an individual tried to aflame it.” said Kamau.
Kamau asserted that a team from the bomb disposal unit arrived at the scene and assessed the damage adding that there is no cause of alarm as the situation had been contained.

He further stated that police have commenced investigation into the incident with a view to unearthing the cause of the explosion.
One of the proprietors of the building who spoke to journalists said there was no extensive damage or destruction of property which was caused by the explosion.
He dismissed reports that there was a bomb planted in the building augmenting the police statements that the explosion was caused by a gas.
” I would like to dispell information being spread around that there was a bomb inside the building. The explosion was as result of a gas which was responded to immediately.” he said.
A team from the Kenya Red Cross also arrived at the scene and evacuated the casualties to hospital.
Panic had earlier gripped the residents of Eastleigh following the devastating sound of the explosion.
Curious onlookers were captured on camera milling around the vicinity as heavily armed contingent of GSU officers stood guard Infront of the building.
