GARISSA– In a harrowing incident early Thursday morning, a police patrol vehicle was struck by a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) along the road between Xagardheer refugee camp and Dadaab in Garissa County. The explosion, which occurred around 6:00 AM, is believed to be the work of suspected militants operating in the volatile northeastern region.

The blast, which sent shockwaves across the refugee camps and several surrounding areas, left the police vehicle severely damaged. Remarkably, all officers inside the vehicle at the time of the explosion survived without any injuries.

The attack adds to growing concerns about security in northeastern Kenya, particularly in areas bordering Somalia where militant groups have been known to operate.

Security agencies are continuing investigations into the incident to determine those responsible and prevent further attacks.
