MOGADISHU- Residents of Garsbaley area in the outskirts of Mogadishu are shocked lots following the A murder that shocked many people took place this morning inside a mosque in gruesome murder of an imam.
According to sources, this horrifying murder happened after a dispute broke out between the mosque’s mu’adin and a young boy who was an assistant to the imam of the mosque in Garsbaale area.
The Muadhin of the mosque who then became angry took out a sharp machete and attacked the young boy who was arguing with him, but unfortunately the machete landed on the imam leaving him dead.
Residents reported that the imam who was killed led the morning prayer in the mosque while the mu’adin was the one who called for that prayer adding that the incident has left them in bewilderment.
“This morning in Garasbaley, we were shocked by the unprecedented violence that took place, two men, one of whom was the imam of the mosque, and the mu’adin of the mosque and the imam of the mosque was killed. Both of them performed the morning prayer, one called for the prayer while the other one led it” said one of the residents of Garsbaale.
The local people said that this horrible murder was caused by a photo taken, and it was said that after the morning prayer, there was a dispute inside the mosque between the imam, his assistant and the mu’adin who in the end killed the imam.
“The one who killed is the muadin and the one who was killed is the imam. When the morning prayer ended and everyone left, inside the mosque was left the imam who was also a teacher of the Qur’an in a madrasa and the imam’s assistant who is also a senior in that same madrasa, and the mu’adin.
The imam’s assistant and the killer man fought over a picture that was taken, the mu’adin then raised a machete with the intention to kill the young assistant but the imam put himself in front of the boy to protect him. Unfortunately, the imam was hit 5 times with the machete and died on the spot.’’ said one of the local residents.
Police are yet to comment on the incident by the time of publishing this report.
