MOGADISHU– Somali Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Abass Amin has on Wednesday welcomed senior military delegation from Turkish Defence Ministry led by Gen. Ilhan Istanbullu.

They discussed wide range of issues including strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ defence forces.

Gen. Abas thanked the officials for their unwavering support to Somali National Army highlighting the importance of closer cooperation in combatting with Al-Shabab militant group.

The High level delegation on their part reiterated Turkish’s unflinching continuous commitment towards supporting the Somali government in the areas of defence and fighting with extremism.

They lauded the Somali National Army for the progress made in defeating Al-Shabab who have been losing huge territories to the SNA forces across the country.

Turkish government’s support the Federal government of Somalia in different facets including training of the military personnel and has implemented development projects in the country.

The two countries also enjoy good longstanding diplomatic and economic relations .
