African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) Head who is also the Special Representative of the African Union commission Chairperson Souef Mohamed El-amine has on Wednesday hosted State Minister of South West State, Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Nur.
The reception which took place at the ATMIS head quarters in the capital Mogadishu saw both sides engage discussions on range of issues including reconciliation efforts in South West State.
The stabilisation initiatives and the ATMIS mandate was also covered in the meeting.
Amb. Souef expressed gratitude at the State Minister for visiting him underscoring the ATMIS unwavering commitment to continue supporting the regional State in defeating Al-Shabab militant group.
The Special AU Envoy also lauded the South West State government for making great strides in implementing the stabilisation initiatives.
On his part, the State Minister thanked Amb. El-Amine for the cordial reception and highlighted the importance of bolstered cooperation between ATMIS and SWS in combatting with extremism.
He underlined his regional government undertaking to combatting with Al-Shabab pledging that an operation to flush out the militants from several areas in the State will soon begin in the region.
