Units from Somali National Army special forces (Gorgor) have on Wednesday conducted water trucking for the vulnerable families in Galgadud region.
Troops from the Somali National Army especially its Turkish – trained commandos ( Gorgor) have on Wednesday carried out a water trucking for vulnerable families in Galgadud region.
Several families ravaged by the ongoing drought in the town benefited from the water trucking.
The specialized force mostly conducted the water supply in villages under Galgacad town in Galmudug State.
The town was recently captured by the Gorgor forces backed by the Danab elite unit from Al-Shabab militant group which has been controlling the area for many years.
The efforts by the elite police force heralds a good gesture and is anticipated to improve the relationship between the Somali Army and the locals who have been borne the brunt of the Al- Qaeda affiliate militant group.
Somali special commandos have in recent months been involved in community services where they were able to distribute food rations and do water trucking for residents under the recently liberated towns in central and southern Somalia.
Somalia is battling the worst drought conditions in decades following for successful failed rainy seasons which has sparked displacement and decimated the livelihoods of the people.
