MOGADISHU– Somalia and the United Nations have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the coordination of the water sector in the country.
During a meeting with George Konway in the national capital on Wednesday, Jamal Tagal Abass emphasized the importance of the United Nations in Somalia supporting the country by investing heavily in water resources in a bid to address the challenges of water in the Horn of Africa Nation and address the biting drought that has severely ravaged the country.

Mr. Konway is the acting UN resident coordinator while Abass is Somalia’s Minister of Energy and Water Resources.
In a tweet, the United Nations in Somalia said it is committed to enhancing the water access as part of its Development- Humanitarian nexus.

The acting UN resident coordinator has in this past days been meeting with Somali Federal government Ministers with a view to boosting the multifaceted cooperation between the UN and Somalia.
