MOGADISHU– Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has on Thursday morning left the capital Mogadishu for Djibouti to resume at Stalled talks with his Somaliland counterpart President Musa Bihi Abdi.
President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti is expected to intermediate the talks.

According to Somalia’s minster of Information and culture Daud Aweis, the discussion between Somalia and Somaliland aims at resolving conflict and reconciliation between Somalia and Somaliland.
“Pres @HassanSMohamud is in Djibouti to further discussions b/w FGS and Somaliland, with the aim of resolving conflicts and reconciliation. FGS Interior & Trade ministers are part of his delegation. Djibouti is hosting the talks, with Somaliland’s Pres. Muse Bihi also attending.” Said Minister Aweis

Part of President Mohamud delegation include, Ahmed Fiqi Minister of Interior, Jibril Abdirishid Minister of commerce and President’s Mohamud Special Envoy on Somaliland Affairs Abdikarim Hussein Guleid.
Previous talks between the two sides have severally hit a dead end.
Somaliland declared autonomy from Somalia in 1991 but has not gained widespread international recognition for independence.
