MOGADISHU– Somalia National Bureau of Statistics on Sunday launched the First Governance Statistics Report using admin data.

The Minister of Planning, Investment and Economic Development Mohamud Beenebene officiated the launching of the governance data.

He said that the Somali Goal Tracker 2.0 allows Somalia to track its progress towards achieving SDGs and help align financing flows & policies with the country’s socioeconomic & environmental priorities, thus promoting sustainable development.

SNBS in a detailed statement stated that the launching of the governance statistics is a huge milestone achievement that is imperative for state-building and responding to Pillars 1 & 2 of the National Development Plan.

The statement added that Governance statistics play a crucial role in fostering  inclusive, transparent, and accountable connections between the government and its citizens.

According to Fatuma Mumin, one of the speakers at the launching ceremony , detailed recommendations were provided including capacity building on administrative data producers, strengthened coordination between stakeholders and conducting Governance Statistics Survey to fill crucial gaps.

SNBS outlined that the overall purpose of this report is to design and format the Somalia Governance Statistics Report in
a user-friendly manner, ensuring it is easily readable and accessible to a wide range of stakeholders.

Somalia Federal Government has in recent weeks been involved in activities and programs geared towards cementing National Development following the inclusion of the country in to the East African Community regional bloc which serves as a great milestone for integration and economic growth of the Horn of Africa Nation that is recovering from decades of civil war that has stagnated development.
