NEWYORK– Somali Foreign Affairs Minister Abshir Omar Jamaa has on Wednesday held meeting with Ahmed Hussein, the Canada’s Minister of International Development.
The two officials met on the sidelines of the ongoing UNGA78 Summit in New York city, United States of America.
They discussed wide range of issues including strengthening bilateral relations between Somalia and Canada and deepening cooperation on areas of mutual interest to both countries.
Jamaa expressed gratitude at the meeting and highlighted the importance of closer cooperation between the two sides in various fields.
On his part, the Canadian Minister for Development underscored the unwavering commitment by his government in helping the Horn of Africa Nation in different facets including the counter-terrorism efforts and institutional reforms.

On a different note, The Foreign Affairs Minister engaged talks with Mirjana Spoljaric, the President of the International Committee of Red Cross.
The talks centred on bolstering the humanitarian response efforts amid the ongoing drought and other calamities that have ripped Somalia.

Spoljaric pledged the Red Cross commitment to alleviating the humanitarian emergencies that have engulfed the East African Nation which sparked human displacements and depletion of livestock and resources.
