Somalia and the United Kingdom have agreed to strengthen the ongoing education reforms in the country.
This is following a meeting between Somalia’s Education Minister Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir and the UK ambassador to Somalia Mike Nithavrianakis on Monday in the capital Mogadishu.
The discussion also broadly centred on providing education to four million Somali students according to a statement from the minister.
Abdulkadir thanked the Mr. Nithavrianakis for the pivotal role his government is playing to supporting the Somali education sector.
For his part, the British Envoy reiterated his government commitment to continue rendering unwavering support to the Somali government in the field of education.
He highlighted the efforts made by the Somali Federal government in instituting positive transformation to the education sector.
Somalia and UK government have good working diplomatic relations with the UK providing support to the Somali government in different facets including fighting terrorism, humanitarian assistance, state building processes and institutional reforms.
