NAIROBI– United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) who is in Nairobi for a series high level meetings and discussions with senior Kenya government officials has on Tuesday met with Amb. Monica Juma.
They discussed wide-ranging topics, including stabilization for areas the Somali National Army recently liberated from Alshabab militant group.
They also tackled the security transition from ATMIS to Somali Federal government forces and international support to Somalia.
Ms. Monica, who is the National security Advisor to Pesident William Ruto highlighted the Kenya government commitment to continue supporting Somalia in its pursuit to defeat Al-Shabab.
She called for concerted efforts to summount Al-Shabab which have been wrecking havoc in both Kenya and Somalia.
On the other hand, Ms. Laing underscored the UN’s unwavering undertaking to fighting with Al-Shabab and handing over security responsibilities to the Somali government troops once timeline of the African Union peace keepers mission are over.

She also pinpointed the progress made by the ATMIS forces in combatting with counter-terrorism and its support to pescd and stability in the Horn of Africa Nation.
Kenya has large number of troops in Somalia which have played a pivotal role in maintaining peace and stability in the East African Nation that is reeling from decades of civil war and Al-Shabab insurgency.
