NAIROBI- Wajir county Women MP Fatuma Jehow has called on former Wajir gubernatorial candidate Hassan Ahmed Mohamed alias “Fuje” to drop his intention to file an appeal against the High court ruling that upheld the election of incumbent governor Ahmed Abdullahi.
Speaking during a luncheon hosted to celebrate the court verdict on Friday in Nairobi, Ms Jehow said that time is ripe for Wajir county leaders to join hands and work together and bury their political hatchet for the benefit of the county residents.
She exhorted the county senator Abass Sheikh Mohamed alias “Abaas KK” and Eldas MP Adan Keynan to intercede and broker political truce between Governor Abdullahi and his arch- rival Dr. Fuje.
“Mimi Kama mama wa Kaunti tutapatia Adan Keynan na Senator Abass KK waende wamlete ( As the county women MP I would like Hon Adan Keynan and Senator Abass KK to approach him and bring the two ( Governor Jiir and Fuje ) together.”She said.
The county women MP further decried about the worsening drought situation in the county asserting that the residents are on the verge of death due to the prolonged drought and called upon all the elected leaders from the county to join hands in surmounting the crisis.
Her statements were also echoed by host of leaders lee by governor Ahmed Abdullahi, Eldas MP Adan Keynan and Senator Abass Sheikh Mohamed who in unison underscored the need to work together and address the challenges facing the county.
The High Court had on Friday dismissed a petition filed by Adan Mohamed Hassan, seeking to nullify the election victory of Ahmed Abdullahi as Wajir Governor.
Justice George Dulu ruled that Abdullahi was validly elected and that the election was held in accordance with the Constitution and election laws.

Hassan came second during the hotly contested August 9, 2022 election. He argued that Abdullahi’s election should be nullified due to gross violation of electoral laws.
He garnered 27,224 votes under the Jubilee Party while the current governor Ahmed Abdullahi got 35,533 votes under ODM party ticket.
Meanwhile, reports are rife that the petitioner is seeking to overturn the High Court ruling at the Court of Appeal.
However, Frontier Online can not authoritively verify the reports and efforts by this news outlet to get response from Dr. Hassan proved futile since our calls went unanswered.
It is now a matter of see and wait whether Fuje will file an Appeal or not.
