A young boy who has been trapped in a mining pit in Sanaag region in Somalia’s Puntland regional State has been rescued.
Mohamed Said’s lifeless body was retrieved after close to 40 hours rescue operation.
According to reports, Said was part of a group of men who were digging the well for gold.
Local community and rescuers were left heart broken upon by the incident.
The 28 – year old man fell into the underground mining well after part of the pit collapsed on Thursday.
Somali Federal government and Puntland’s regional government did not comment on the incident by the time of publishing this report.
The area is synonymous with deadly mine collapses.
