MOGADISHU-Somalia indirect Electoral Implementation Commission (FEIT) has on Saturday elected Muse Gelle Yussuf as its new Chairman afte defeating Abdirshim in second round voting.
Gelle garnered 14 votes while his closest challenger Abdirahim got 11 votes. Muse who had allegedly the support of PM Roblr trounced Abdirahim who has the backing of Villa Somalia and South West State.
Gelle now take over the mantle from the ousted Mohamed Hassan Irro who has votes out in a vote of no confidence in late December for alleged incompetence, biasness and meddling in politics.
This comes as today marks the start of the final election timeline for the House of the People ser by the National Consultative Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble and attended by regional leaders and Banadir governor Omar Mohamud Omar Filish.
The leaders in a point statement had also concurred on taking AMISOM troops to the presidential palace so as to cool down tension caused by the Stand- off between president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble after the president announced last week he had suspended the powers of Prime Minister following allegations of corruption and alleged failure to conclude and manage the Lower House elections which missed its third time completion deadline.
