MOGADISHU-Eight people have confirmed dead and 10 others injured in a suicide car bombing targeting a UN security convoy on 21st road in Moqadishu’s Waberi neighborhood on Wednesday.
Banadir residents told the media that they heard huge sound of explosion and column of smoke was seen rosing over the area.
Immediately after the attack too security commanders led by Banadir region police commander Farhan Qarole visited the scene and assessed the damaged.
Al- Shabaab militant group claimed responsibility for the attack and said that the suicide bomb blast targeted white men who were passing Waberi neighborhood.
Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimu who is the government spokesperson for the federal government of Somalia confirmed the attack in a statement on his official Twitter handle saying the Somali government condemns the attack.
“Such acts of terrorism will not derail the peace and the ongoing development in the country. We must unite in the fight against terrorism,” he tweeted.

Al- Shabaab is trying to overthow to overthrow the central government of Somalia and has in recent weeks staged several attacks in Mogadishu, Galmudug and Hirshabelle states where casualties of both the militant group and Somali government military were confirmed.
