NAIROBI- Former Wajir governor Ahmed Abdullahi has today unveiled his running mate in the forthcoming August Polls as he once again seeks to be at the helm of the county administration.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Wednesday, Abdullahi announced that he settled for Ahmed Muhumed alias Caato as his running mate.
The former county boss heaped praised on the personality and capabilities of the Caato whom he said is best suited to deputise him as he starts his onslaught to unseat the incumbent governor Mohamed Abdi Mohamud.
“Today is a great day for our beloved people and County of Wajir and a historic moment in our campaigns as we seek to restore hope in Wajir.
I am proud to announce for the first time my Deputy Governor and running mate and I am honoured to present to you that I shall be working with my brother Ahmed Muhumed Abdi (Cato).” read the Statement.
Abdullahi said he spent great deal of time to ponder over before making the bold decision of finally settling for a person who espouses the same ideologies with him in transforming the once vibrant county.
“It has indeed been a great honour and privilege to have spent a significant amount of time to find the best match in terms of vision for Wajir and shared aspirations as we seek a solution to address the needs of our beloved county.” he said.
He also reverred the Deputy governorship position noting that Muhumed is upto the task to perform his tasks in an impeccable manner and steer the county in the right direction.
“I have held the position of the Deputy Governor in high regards since it carries with it uncountable expectations with challenging duties and I believe, in settling for my brother Ahmed Muhumed (Cato), I have given Wajir the best team to steer us in the right direction.”
He finally pledged together with his running mate to issue a substantive and comprehensive statement in the coming days underscoring that the landmark announcement will salvage the county and restore hope in the locals.
“I have no doubt, this landmark announcement on this historic day is a clear testament that we are ready to serve and restore hope in Wajir.” said the former county Chief.
Abdullahi will be battling out with
Nairobi South Hospital proprietor Hassan Mohamed,Ugas Sheikh Mohamed, Ex-CAS Mohamed Elmi , Business man Siyad Abdullahi, the county Senator Abdullahi Kabreta, Deputy governor Ahmed Ali Muktar and the incumbent Mohamed Abdi Mohamud.
The Ex- County governor will be seeking to vie for the seat using the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
