African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) troops stationed at Belles Qooqani, in Lower Jubba region of Somalia’s Jubaland State on Thursday organised a friendly football match with local youth to promote unity and collaboration.
Officer Commanding Belles Qooqani, Maj. Saningo Leiyan commended the teams for their camaraderie, emphasising the crucial role of community support in fulfilling ATMIS peacekeeping mission.
The troops also donated educational materials to Belles Qooqani Primary School, enhancing learning opportunities and demonstrating ATMIS’s commitment to local development through Civil Military Cooperation.

Despite their sole mandate of stabilising the Horn of Africa Nation, ATMIS peace keepers troops have also been involved in community services where they have helped residents under their jurisdiction ravaged by natural calamities and participated in educational and medical support for somali people who are recovering from decades of civil war.
