Garissa Governor HE Nathif Jama today joined leaders from the county and National Government to raise funds for the madarasat Al-Najah Al-Islamia waqf project in Garissa town.
The event where the CS for Defence was the chief guest, the Governor donated Ksh. 3.5 million to the oldest institution that is famed to have produced majority of the Muslim scholars from Garissa County
The Governor who is an alumni of the institution appreciated the distinguished achievement of the institution to promote and educate the community on Islamic values
He recognized the efforts of Muslim scholars in Garissa County and further pledged his support to the madarasa schools and orphanage centers.
The mini fund drive for the waqf project comes ahead of a major fundraising for the project where the Deputy President HE Rigathi Gachagua is expected to be the chief Guest.
The CS Defence Hon Aden Duale donated Ksh. 6.5 million including donations of Ksh. 1 million each from the president HE William Ruto and the deputy president HE Rigathi Gachagua
Deputy Governor HE Abdi Dagane Garissa Senator Hon. Abdul Haji, Garissa Township MP Hon. Dekow Mohamed, Ijara MP Hon. Abdi Ali, Assembly speaker Hon. Abdi Idle and members of the County Assembly were among leaders who gave their contributions during the funds drive.
