MOGADISHU– The European Union delegation to Somalia has welcomed the new EU Ambassador to Somalia Karin Johansson who arrived in Mogadishu on Monday.
In a statement carried on its Twitter handle, the EU expressed gratitude to the Somali Foreign Affairs Minister Abshir Omar for receiving the credentials of the new Envoy.
The statement added that the reception of the papers from Ms. Johansson by the Minister reaffirms the statregic and long-standing relationship between the two parties.

Ms Karin JOHANSSON. Warmest thanks to the Minister @abshirhuruse for receiving the copies of diplomatic credentials from the new Ambassador ???? This milestone reaffirms the strong and longstanding partnership between the EU and Somalia.” read the statement.
Huruse had on Monday received a copy credentials from Ms. JOHANSSON in the capital Mogadishu.
The Minister wished all the best to the new EU Envoy as she embarks on her duty in the country in bolstering cooperation between Somalia and EU.
On her part, the new EU Envoy thanked Mr. Huruse for the warm reception she was accorded to highlighted EU’s unflinching commitment to further supporting Somalia.
Ms. Johansson is taking over the mantle from Tiina Intelman who wounded up her tour of duty in the Horn of Africa Nation in August this year.
