Former Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has thrown his weight behind the ongoing offensive against Al-Shabaab militant group by the federal government forces.
In a statement carried on his Facebook page on Wednesday evening, Farmaajo hailed the Somali National Army for making a huge progress in the war against Al-Shabaab.
He outlined that the insurgents have been a stumbling block to the prosperity and development of the Nation calling on Somali leaders and nationals to support the war against terror.
” The ongoing war against terrorism is a national duty for all of us to take part the in it and support the government in the offensive against Al-Shabaab.” said Farmaajo.
His statement comes hours after President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in a televised video vowed that the ongoing uprising against the militants will go on until the Horn of Africa Nation is free from Al-Shabab.
Somali National Army backed by local clan militias and international partners have successfully dislodged the Islamist insurgents from swathes of territories in Central and South of the country since the beginning of the warfare against the terror group August last year.
