WAJIR– The first and former governor for wajir county Ahmed Abdullahi alias Ahmed Jiir, was today endorsed by a section of elders drawn degodia clan who are the majority in the vast county.
The one-time county Cheif who was welcomed by a large number of people seemed to have had high hopes in the coming general elections.
Speaking during the meeting the elders decried about poor service delivery in the county calling on Abdullah to come in and rescue the county from the brink of collapse.
“You are a Messiah for us and we call upon you to embolden your campaigns so as to again capture the seat.” Said Sheikh Hussein, community elder.
Some of the elders also vocalized that Ahmed Jiir is the man to watch and outlined that he will be one of the best leaders for the county if given a second chance in the next polls slated for August.
The Elders also urged residents in the county to throw their weight behind Ahmed Abdullah so as to restore sanity in the county.
Ahmed Abdullahi said that he was particularly interested in making the county a greater place by giving chances to the less fortunate persons in the communities in the next dispensation
Abdullahi also assured the religious leaders of his commitment to strongly given a helping hand and supporting the dwindling islamic education in the county if he is elected as the next governor of WAJIR.
Abdullahi while addressing crowd in his maiden visit to the county on Sunday, stated that if elected as a governor in the next general elections he will set up a ministry that will specifically deals with religious matters in the county to bring to an end to the sprouting cases of immorality in the county.
“All these political hoodlums has been brought by the people in the county not adhering to the set and established Islamic laws and Sharia.” Said Ahmed Abdullahi.
Ahmed said he was humbled by the overwhelming support from residents, pledging to restore their hopes in his administration.
“I have been receiving encouraging messages from Wajir residents. I assure you that I will not let you down. We are determined to bring Wajir back on track,” he said.
The former county chief regretted that the county has been engulfed by alleged incessant corruption cases and impeachment for the last two years derailing the delivery of services in the once fully fledged county.
The ex-governor is also drumming up support for his ODM party leader Raila Odinga who has not yet declared his presidential bid but has been criss- crossing the country in a bid to popularise his much hyped “Azimio la Umoja” clarion call.
The Former county head was on Sunday endorsed by his Mattan sub-clan from the larger Wajir West to again contest for the gubernatorial seat which he is expected to wrestle it out with four other aspirants who have declared interest for the post in August 2022.
The Ex- governor is set to battle it out with other four hopefuls who have since declared their interest for the top seat in the county.
The aspirants are Ugas Sheikh Mohamed, Nairobi South Hospital proprietor Hassan Mohamed business mogul Siyat Abdullahi and career civil servant Hassan Wehliye.
Governorship aspirants have started meeting elders from different clans in an attempt to win their hearts for the top seat and have runaway for the upcoming polls.
The contest is between the West and East voting blocs. The latter consists of Wajir East and Tarbaj constituencies, while the former has Eldas and Wajir West.
During the 2013 general election, an alliance that brought together the three clans delivered victory, while Fai clan members who won the governorship seat have been holding series of meetings to plan on who field as a candidate in the August polls.
Ahmed Mukhtar who is now the county boss slammed his former boss Abdi saying he was hell bent on creating unnecessary tension in the county.
