GARISSA– Garissa woman representative Udgoon Siyad Kuno has on Saturday embarked on a food distribution exercise for vulnerable families living in the county.
According to a statement posted on her official Facebook page, Udgoon through her team disbursed assorted food items to residents living in Diiso 1 and 2, Bula Nadhir and Shanta Abaq.
The food ration donation under the auspices of Linda Mama initiative program is according to her office , meant to cushion underprivileged families from the effects of the recent El-Nino induced floods and other natural calamities.
The exercise which was supported and facilitated by the Safaricom foundation and Kenya Red Cross society benefitted 700 households that were grappling with lack of essential needs.

Some of the residents who received the relief aid consignment expressed gratitude to Udgoon for her relentless efforts to helping individuals impacted by natural calamities and called on her bolster support to them.
Udgoon has pledged to use her office to champion for the rights of the vulnerable members of the public and render help to families ravaged by the flooding in the county which has caused large displacement of people and devastation of livelihoods.
This is not the first time, the county MP has donated foodstuffs to needy households in Garissa.
The lawmaker has previously donated mattresses and other essential items to displaced families in and outside the county in efforts aimed at curtailing the effects of the El-Nino rains.
The County MP has since her election in 2022 been involved in programmes and activities geared towards empowering women and children who remain susceptible to Gender based violence and other forms of abuse in the society.
She has also entangled herself in disbursing relief food to schools in the county in a bid to supplement the feeding programme in the area and keep students at school.
