NAIROBI– Kenya’s President William Ruto’s National Security Advisor Monica Jumaa has on Friday received and welcomed her Somali counterpart Hussein Sheikh Mahmoud.
The meeting provided an avenue for the officials to engage in ways of bolstering the strategic bilateral relations between the two countries.
According to MS Monica, the discussion also encompassed regional development and the influence of global trends on the national and regional security of both Nations.
The ongoing onslaught against Al-Shabaab and border security was also majorly covered in the meeting.

Ms Monica commended the Somali government accomplishment in the war against terror which has led to dislodging of insurgents from large swathes of territories in the Horn of Africa Nation.
She underscored the Kenya government commitment to continues unwavering efforts to helping Somalia in different areas including combatting with Al-Shabab.
On his part, Mr. Hussein expressed gratitude in the meeting highlighting the progress made by the Somali Federal government in different facets.

He underlined the central government intention of further strengthening the cooperation between the two sides.
Kenya and Somalia have shared historic diplomatic and bilateral spanning over years and the meeting is expected to greatly enhance the coperation between the two sides.
The Kenya government supports Somalia in stabilizing the country with its troops who are serving under the African Union Transition Mission playing a pivotal role in eliminating Al-Shabab from various areas in the East African Nation.
