The Ogaden Supreme Council (OSC) has dispelled claims circulating on Social Media that they have endorsed the current Women Representative Fatuma Gedi to defend her position in the upcoming elections.
Addressing journalists at a hotel in Wajir county, Mr. Ahmed Hussein, the Chairman of the Ogaden Supreme Council said that they are yet to resolve on the Women Representative position.
Hussein further added that they were to vote for the position today but are to determine on when will the voting take place.
The incumbent Wajir women representative Ms. Fatuma Gedi and Nominated MP Nasri Sahal have according to sources submitted their applications to contend for the seat.
The council however affirmed that they have in unison endorsed the Deputy Governor Ahmed Ali Muktar to battle for the gubernatorial position on behalf of the clan and Mohamed Noor Muktar to battle for the Township MCA seat.
Earlier in the day, reports were rife on the media that the council voted in favour of Gedi to contest for her seat again with 16 delegates allegedly affirming their consent in the ballot.
The report also stated that Nominated Senator Nasri Sahal received 15 votes.
