Famous Somali actor and comedian Abdi Muriidi popularly known as “Ajakis” has died today in Mogadishu.
Ajakis was ill in recent days and was admitted into a hospital.
Ajakis, was a popular comedian who was famous for his witty, effortless jokes. He was not like any of the other comedians; he had a presence, both online and offline, which left his audience wanting more.
For about 25 years now, Ajakis has brought laughter to millions of Somalis who have been watching his comedy both on radio and TV.
Ajakis was among the founders of Al-Faghi and Imaankey which dubbed Indian movies and in later years included Turkish movies and soap operas.
Somalia President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has sent his condolences messages to the family of Popular Somali comedian and artist Mr. Abdi Muriidi alias “Ajakis”

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble on his part also sent his condolences message of the family of the comedian.
“May Allah have mercy on the famous actor Abdi muriidi Dheere whose common name was Ajakis who died in Mogadishu today. I send my condolences to the family, friends, and fans of the deceased.” Said Roble

The cause of his death was not immediately disclosed, until his death Ajakis was working for Universal TV.
