MOGADISHU– Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has on Tuesday received General Michael E. Langley, Commander of United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) at the Presidential Palace in the capital Mogadishu.
They discussed a range of items key being regional security issues and ways to further strengthen the security cooperation between Somalia and the United States.
During the meeting, the two also deliberated at length ways of bolstering the ongoing war and onslaught against Al-Shabaab militant group which continue to wreck havoc in the Horn of Africa Nation.
President Mohamud underscored the unwavering support of the United States to Somalia in different saying the it has been an integral partner with the country in combating with terrorism and state – building.
The President expressed gratitude at the US Africa Command and called on them to continue supporting in a bid to overcome the threats of Al-Shabab the country.

On his part, General Langley highlighted the importance of closer collaboration and reiterate the U.S’s government commitment to further advance the multifaceted support to Somalia.
The U.S has provided support to Somalia in different including military, humanitarian assistance, economic and political stability.
Among those in attendance of the meeting of the meeting were Defence Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed his Foreign Affairs counterpart Abshir Omar Jamaa and other senior government and military officials.
