NAIROBI- Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has on Tuesday held meeting with former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.
The two leaders met on the sidelines of UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) that is ongoing in Doha, Qatar.
This is the first meeting between the two leaders after the hand over of power by Farmaajo to Mohamud in May following the protracted and controversial elections that threatened to tear the Horn of Africa Nation in to another civil war.
According to a statement from Villa Somalia, President Mohamud briefed the former Head of State on the ongoing onslaught against Al-Shabaab and the current situation in the country.
Former President Farmaajo who ruled Somalia from 2017 to 2022 has recent days pitched tent in Doha, Qatar.
The meeting comes as Somali Federal government bolsters fight against the Al-qaeda affiliate group in Southern and central Somalia where they control large swathes of land.
