MOGADISHU– The Somali Disaster Management Agency ( SODMA) has embarked on a meat distribution program aimed at cushioning the residents against the vagaries of drought in Banadir region.
According to the Disaster Agency, the exercise which began on Thursday will see 8500 vulnerable families benefit from the program.
The program is also expected to uplift the lives of displaced communities residing in various Internally Displaced Camps ( IDP) in the capital Mogadishu.
The exercise was supported by Muslim World League , Turkish Cooperation Coordination Agency and King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre.

Mogadishu and Benadir region have in recent years played host to families fleeing from myriads of challenging ranging from drought, Al-Shabab menace and other climate related adversities from the other regional Federal Member States.
Somalia is currently grappling with incessant drought and climate change which has decimated the livelihoods of local residents and even sparked human displacement and deaths of persons.
