MOGADISHU– The Commissioner of Somalia’s National Disaster Agency (SDMA) Mohamud Moalim has on Wednesday held meeting with the leaders of Food and Agriculture Organization ( FAO) led by Etienne Peterschmitt, the country representative of the global Food Agency in Somalia.
The meeting focused on fostering relations, cooperation between the Somali government and FAO.
Exchange and sharing of pertinent information on preventing and combating with disasters between the two sides also featured in the discussions.
The commissioner of SDMA applauded the work of the UN Food Agency in helping Somali people who have been confronted by myriad challenges including drought and recent floods that have wrecked havoc on Beledweyne town, Hirshabelle State.

Mr. Peterschmitt on his part underscored the importance of closer collaboration between the two agencies in curbing calamites and enhancing community resilience.
Senior officials of the Somali Disaster Agency were also present in the meeting.
