A group of heavily armed security forces with armoured trucks who had for the better part of Wednesday erected a road block in Ceel Dahir in Bari region have vacated their bases on Wednesday evening.
The forces had for several hours cut the traffic to the main road leading to Ceel Dahir town before leaving the area.
Transport has now normally resumed in the town after the soldiers emptied the road according to locals who spoke to the media.
It is not clear why the security forces set up road blocks but reports have that the soldiers were under the instructions of Gamal Mohamed Hassan, the current Federal minister for planning and International corporation.
Gamal is contesting for a parliamentary seat in Bosaso town in the upcoming elections and his candidature has attracted a revolt from Puntland State President Said Abdullahi Deni who wants to sweep into victory to one of his loyals for the seat the Minister is running for.
However, there are no official comments from the minister on whether the security forces were under his order as reported in the media.
