QATAR– Somali Defence Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur has on Monday held meeting with Lieutenant General, Salem Bin Hamad Al-Nabit, Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces in Doha.
The ministers discussed a variety of vital items including inking a deal to strengthening military and security cooperation between the two brotherly nations.
Abdulkadir briefed Al- Nabit of the progress made by Somali government in combatting Al-Shabab insurgency in the country.
He highlighted the importance of closer cooperation between the two countries in different facets for the benefit of the two sides.

On his side, Lieutenant General Al- Nabit expressed gratitude at the Somali Defence Minister for paying a visit to the country and reiterated the Qatar’s government unwavering commitment to continue lending support to the Somali Federal government.
In related news, Mr. Nur visited visit the Qatari Türkiye Joint Forces.
The Minister tweeted that “This partnership showcases the heightened cooperation on defense and security between Qatar and Türkiye.
Somalia and Qatar have enjoyed good diplomatic relations since 2017 when former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo ascended to power which saw the country in the middle east support the Horn of Africa Nation in different folds including providing training to Somali military, humanitarian assistance and State building.
