JEDDAH- Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has on Friday participated the Arab League summit which is taking place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
President Mohamud and accompanying delegation had arrived in Jeddah on Thursday.
The summit will provide a platform to Mohamud in outlining the successful gains made by his administration in countering terrorism.
The President is also expected to share with attendees the plans by the Somali government in restoring peace to areas still under the control of Al-Shabab.
Moreover, President Mohamud notified the members of the Summit that his government has liberated 80 cities and regions from the grip of the Al- Qaeda affiliate group – Al-Shabaab.

The pan-Arab summit brings together 22 member countries represented by the respective heads of state and government along with five observer nations.
The kingdom is hosting this year’s summit after taking over the rotating presidency from Algeria.
The Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf handed over the presidency to the kingdom’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan during a meeting for Arab foreign ministers in Jeddah on May 17.
